The Celerio is built on an all-new platform that has been in the making for close to three and a half years. A team of around 175 designers, engineers, product planners, visualisers, marketeers etc from both India and Japan have combined their efforts to this end. Except whoever came up with a name that sounds like a veggie in a salad mated to Mahindra’s favourite alphabet is anyone’s guess. According to Mayank Pareek, COO Maruti Suzuki, Celerio means a ‘celestial river’, but don’t ask me what’s the connect, I’m goas clueless as you and many Maruti Suzuki employees are!

From various angles the Celerio brings to mind the Toyota Etios Liva, especially that smiling grille with the twin smiling slats flanking the Suzuki Logo. In fact, if you took off the Suzuki logo and replaced it with a Toyota badge you could easily fool anyone into mistaking this car for the latter. As it is, driving this car on the busy roads around Jodhpur did not elicit much interest from the very people who would in the near future be buying this car, the aam janta! And let me tell you in the past there hasn’t been a single new car that hasn’t grabbed attention on these drives.

The F-Type uses an all-aluminium chassis, sound and vibration insulation is provided by the addition of a special underbody tray and engine mounts, and a double bulkhead between the engine bay and passenger compartment. The convertible roof is an electrically operated retractable fabric hood. Jaguar says by eschewing metal it can keep the car’s centre of gravity low, while aThinsulate layer means thermal and sound insulation is akin to a solid roof.

The entry-level F-Type uses Jaguar’s new 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine, good for 340 PS (250 kW; 335 hp), 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) in 5.1 seconds, and a top speed of 161 mph (259 km/h). In the middle comes the F-Type S, with the same engine tuned for 380 PS (279 kW; 375 hp), a top speed of 171 mph (275 km/h), and 0 to 60  mph in 4.8 seconds. The top of the range model is the V8 S, with Jaguar’s 5.0-litre, 495 PS (364 kW; 488 hp) supercharged petrol engine.The layout is front-engined, rear-wheel-drive. The gearbox is an eight-speed automatic with paddle-shifters offering manual override. There is a mechanical limited-slip differential on the V6 S and an electronic limited-slip differential on the V8. The engine choices will remain unchanged for F-Type Coupé with its market launch in Spring 2014, but with the addition of a higher performance V8 R model producing 550 PS (400 kW; 540 hp) in lieu of the convertible V8 S model.

The F-Type has double-wishbone front and rear suspension with adaptive dampers and adjustable suspension settings to allow the driver to adjust ride and handling. The F-Type has a total of 25 different driving modes programmed to suit different road conditions and driving styles.

The Jaguar C-X16 has been described as a production concept that will serve as the prototype for future Jaguar sports cars. This car "aims to set new class benchmarks in design, vehicle dynamics and technology." It comes with a hybrid powertrain that features a new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine with 380 horsepower and 332 lb/ft of torque. This gas engine is then joined by an electric motor generator that has been integrated into an eight-speed automatic transmission. The electric motor receives its power from a 1.6kWh battery pack mounted just behind the seats, providing an additional 95 horsepower and 173 lb/ft of torque. The C-X16 also features a hybrid boost system that draws its set-up from Formula 1’s Kinetic Energy Recovery System. The KERS-like system on the sports car can be activated with a steering-wheel mounted button, providing increased acceleration courtesy of the car’s electric motor. All told, the Jaguar C-X16 Concept is capable of hitting 0-62 mph in just 4.4 seconds, whereas the top speed can reach as high as 186 mph.
