Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S

Porsche 911 Turbo

Porsche launched the latest 991-Series 911 at Frankfurt two years ago, so a turbocharged version felt long overdue.
Now the new 911 Turbo is here, and - on paper at least - it doesn't disappoint. Peak power from the 3.8-litre flat-six is a tarmac-scorching 520bhp.
With standard four-wheel drive and active aerodynamics to keep those wild horses in check, that means a 0-62mph sprint in just 3.4 seconds.

In the unlikely event that isn't quick enough, Porsche also unveiled a range-topping Turbo S with 560bhp.
Like the regular Turbo, it's only available with a PDK semi-automatic gearbox. Use the Launch Control function (not recommended on the road) and it will catapult to 62mph in 3.1 seconds.

Porsche 911 Turbo: GT3 or new Turbo?

The hardcore, track-focused 911 GT3 has grabbed headlines recently, but the 911 Turbo promises to be much easier to live with.
For starters, the extra traction of 4WD will make it safer and more straightforward to drive. And there's no need to go without creature comforts: sat nav, Bluetooth and a Bose hi-fi with DAB radio are all standard.
Quoted fuel economy for the 911 Turbo is 29.1mpg, with CO2 emissions of 227g/km. That doesn't sound too bad, but we'd be surprised if most drivers bettered 20mpg on real roads. This isn't a car for pottering in, after all.
